- In network adapters using Network Driver Interface Specification versions 6.30 and later, packet coalescing is used to group both random and multicast traffic for efficiency. Packets matching receive filter parameters are cached and released together when any of the following occurs.
- Coalescing the interrupts amounts to a wait which will enhance throughput but degrade latency. Disabling the Interrupt Coalescing and thus forcing the NIC to interrupt the CPU for each packet will provide the minimal latency but lower throughput. In order to disable interrupt coalescing in Windows: Go to Adapter Settings.
- Jun 10, 2009 However, there may be some circumstances where you cannot disable interrupt coalescing. As always, some experimentation in your environment may be helpful. High Throughput. If your primary messaging goal is high throughput, then you should enable interrupt coalescing. There are usually two general ways it can be enabled: adaptive moderation.
Aug 09, 2019 D0 Packet Coalescing Enable Or Disable Firefox Specifies an array of network adapter interface descriptions. For a physical network adapter this is typically the name of the vendor of the network adapter followed by a part number and description, such as. I have an application which does packet capture from an ethernet card. Once in a while we see packets dropped (we suspect due to the buffer in the network card or kernel being overrun). I am trying to figure out if turning on interrupt coalescing will help or worsen the situation.

On doing a research I stumbled on something called 'Interrupt Moderation / Coalescing / Throttling'.
What Is Packet Coalescing
This should be a NIC-setting, which could be disabled to optimize the performance/latency.

I have HP Gen.8 Servers and use the bnx2x-driver.
I want to make a test on one server. Does anybody know on how to disable 'Interrupt Moderation' for the NIC in XenServer?
